About Me

Hello, I'm Nic Wren, a passionate graphic designer based in Perth, Australia. My interests include music, nature, poetry, photography, and modern art, all of which serve as inspiration for my graphic designs/art.

My love for music has lead me to have worked freelance jobs predominantly within the music industry. With these jobs I’ve focussed my skills on branding, album artworks, merchandise, and promotional material.

As an avid hiker, I often utilise the beautiful landscapes surrounding Perth and WA’s south-west region to fuel my enthusiasm for photography. Photography to me is an exercise in using balance, form, and colour to accentuate a subject or to capture a feeling. These are concepts I carry over into my creative process when creating designs.

Modern art is also a huge inspiration to me, specifically abstract expressionism. I’m fascinated by how the artists are able to capture meaning and emotion through use of minimal elements, and I often strive to achieve this in my own art. The artists that have influenced me the most is Mark Rothko, Ellsworth Kelly, Jackson Pollock, Frida Kahlo, and Henri Matisse.

Through my graphic design studies and industry experience I am adept at using software such as Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, and InDesign, and recently I’ve been expanding my skills in animation graphics with After Effects.
